Linda Singer BEd. (Hons) MHGI

Linda Singer is currently a Lecturer in Applied Psychology and Human Development at Stevenson College Edinburgh. She has been working in Further Education for 25 years.

Linda is also an assessor for the Scottish Qualifications Authority. She is an established member of the central markers team for the Higher examination in Social Care.

She is a trained addiction counsellor (Alcohol Focus Scotland), a trained bereavement counsellor (Cruse) and counsellor supervisor for Cruse Bereavement Care Scotland. In 2000 Linda achieved the Human Givens Post Graduate Diploma with distinction and since that time has focussed mainly on the Human Givens Approach to counselling and psychotherapy. Linda recently completed the Advanced Human Givens Diploma in June 2008.

In addition, Linda is also an independent trainer. She is an accredited course provider for the Bar Council’s CPD programme in England & Wales. She has written and presents a highly successful series of one day courses, sponsored by the FLBA (Family Law Bar Association) for Judges and Barristers who wish to reduce and manage emotional distress. So far in excess of 300 members of the legal profession have benefited from these courses.

Linda has led seminars on the management of conflict and emotional disputes for the ALC (Association of Lawyers for Children) and presented at their annual conference in 2005 & 2006.

Linda has written and delivered successful training courses to social workers, lecturers in further education and to specialist teachers of children with physical, emotional and behavioural difficulties. These courses offer a raft of practical skills, psychological techniques and ways of working with highly distressed people to help them calm down so that they can listen, focus and think clearly. She also provides a similar input to the continuing professional development of a range of social care and medical practitioners including GP’s, nurses, health care managers and social workers.

Linda has a private psychotherapy practice in Edinburgh which was established in 2000. The main purpose of her work is to enable clients to calm down, resolve conflict and move forward in their lives – as quickly as possible. She specialises in effective, brief therapy for reducing anxiety, lifting depression, and managing emotional distress. Her work covers couples and group meetings, one to one meetings with clients and telephone counselling. Linda is currently engaged to provide 1st line counselling support to the employees of a large multi national company based in Scotland.

Linda is a member of the Human Givens Institute.
